Grr, take two. The cat just stepped on my keyboard and deleted my well thought out and beautifully typed post! animal0014.gif

Anyway, I realized last week that this whole year (5th grade) we've been in the next stage of learning according to WTM. I'm wondering how much of the changes I've been noticing in Maddie's learning style, attitude and overall demeanor about school is due to this. I finally pulled out my copy last night and started to read about that stage, which I'd only skimmed in the past because it seemed so far away. Of course I didn't get very far before I fell asleep. This could take me into 6th grade! animal0008.gif

;) Truly. The best part about this section was finding out that smart-assedness is a developmental phase and it means I'm doing something right.

I made it through and got some good ideas for next year. I think Maddie will really like trying her hand at Logic. She enjoys logic type puzzles. Now I have to check out some of the resources they recommend.

That's the danger with reading homeschool literature, it leads to homeschool shopping.

I was bad. I placed an order with Rainbow Resources last night. Maddie is hopeless with multiplication facts, so I ordered mult and division Learning Wrap Ups. The ones where you wrap the string around the math facts. I think she'll like that. That is a big stumbling block from keeping her from moving ahead in math.

I also ordered a bunch of stuff from Critical Thinking Co. through them: mind benders, red herring mysteries, editor in chief, word roots. Their books are pricy, but Maddie really likes (most) of them.

See, I told you I was bad. animal0017.gif

I could have sent you mine for free! My kids don't use them..... animal0028.gif

We have started using Math-It........ the kids like it and it seems to be working to help them remember/work faster with their add/sub/mult. facts. party0033.gif

Bummer. Oh well, it was a good excuse to order the other stuff.
