We got Oak Meadow math yesterday. It's nice. You have a list of things to try to accomplish during the week and not an over scheduled monster program. You pick the activities you want to do and move on.

I like not having a strict schedule. It's harder to fall behind that way.

I really liked the look of Oak Meadow........we dropped the whole Classical approach and are going for, I don't know, doing as little as possible?! :D

Seriously, we are following Hewitt Homeschooling method....... I like it....... just the basics and the kids are doing well. I would do Oak Meadow except with 3 kids it would cost an arm and 40 legs (doing the whole curriculum). What we are doing now works well enough. scared0016

I just got math and not the whole thing, but I got the teacher manual which covers the whole curriculum. You basically get a list of things to cover during the week and try to go with it. In the description of what they do for grammar they actually say that you may have to go out and buy a workbook. They don't provide everything you need. It's mostly just a guide.

That said it's pretty cool. You don't rush into anything. It's almost too slow, but that prevents meltdowns so I'm not complaining.

A meltdown free day is a good day.

Exactly. So, even though the worksheets they provide within the lessons don't usually belong in that lesson I can focus on going with the general pace they suggest. It's slow and easy and there's only mild grumpiness when I have him do work. No drama.

Drama free is what I always look for in a curriculum. :D
